In the last decade, online learning has become increasingly popular and has provided many benefits to learners and teachers. However, there are challenges such as monitoring students' attention levels. One of the main problems is the difficulty in detecting the level of active participation of students in e-learning sessions. To solve this problem, a system based on EEG physiological signals using the Neurosky device has been designed to monitor students' attention during sessions. This system uses machine learning techniques and predicts the attention level with high accuracy. In this study, 100 participants were present and the learning status was divided into two states of attention and inattention. The results showed that the support vector machine (SVM) algorithm performed best with an accuracy of 91.68%. Also, beta and alpha waves were identified as the most important indicators in predicting attention. For further analysis, K-means and hierarchical clustering algorithms were applied to the data, with K-means being more effective in identifying the attention status. This research shows that EEG signals offer a valuable tool to support decision-making in e-learning and improve student attention monitoring.
